Lab Cleaning Time (continued)
I just told my boss that I was close to finished moving the big equipment from his old lab to his new lab, and that we needed to plan for moving the small stuff.
I'm trying to get him to take an active roll in the process, and to clean out the dump that is his lab. To this end, I told him that if he says it all needs to be moved, I'm going to go on prior experience moving research labs and arbitrarily throw out 25% of his stuff. Further, if I'm the one who has to decide what to keep, he's losing 50% of his stuff.
I also told him that anything I move will wind up left in boxes stacked up in his lab, because he and his group need to sort it out, and I'm not putting it all away so that they can rearrange it later.
Now, to wait and see what he says.
