I'm cleaning out more lab junk today, and I seem to have hit the jackpot.

Anybody want an ISA CGA card?

Or an ISA CGA/EGA + Parallel port card?

Or an MFM/RLL drive controller (could be either, can't tell by looking at it)?

Ooh ooh ooh! I'll take one of somebody-to-fix-my-mother's-computer please...

For the record - HP:1, Angela:0

Mom's missing a DLL file, and without it XP won't load. I tried using her XP disk to run a restore (managed to set the BIOS correctly and everything!), but got told that the disk wasn't readable. So I tried swapping her hard drive, figuring I'd put vista on the new one and then see about pulling the files off of the old one at a later date. HP has that thing jammed in there so tightly that I failed to remove more than one screw. (And then I couldn't get that one back in again!) I may be surrendering and taking it to the Geek Squad, but that's just depressing...

Rawr. Computers eated my brain.

What DLL is she missing?

Does her XP CD boot on a different computer (i.e. - is the problem with the disk or the drive)?

(I have spare XP CDs and I have an external optical drive)

As another option, make a USB drive bootable, copy the Windows XP CD to there, and fix it that way.
