More power!
Jul. 16th, 2005 04:26 pmA few lesson learned today:
teeka decided she wanted a fan to help keep cool while selling outside at Farmer's Market today. I went to Menards to get an inverter, as I remembered they have a fairly inexpensive one. Unfortunately, it's really a cheap one. 60W continuous means that there is only one fan (max draw at 110V is 0.5A) in the whole house that will run off of it. Also, when you accidentally plug it in reversed polarity and blow the fuse, it becomes a throwaway because it's a weird fuse that nobody stocks (and I couldn't return it because i had already cut the plug off to wire it into the booth lighting system).
So, off to the hardware store for a real inverter. 225W continuous means that I can run a big fan. Standard blade fuses mean I can get a spare anywhere. The garage fan (a 12" high-velocity fan) draws an amp, so the battery will run it for ~10-12 hours on high.
Teeka says that all the other people who stopped by her booth thought it rocked.
