Sep. 26th, 2006 02:56 pmI just called Nikon and ordered a microscope gear for work. They remember me because of how I place the order (this was the third order in about a month - the first time, I described the part, and I got the pinion, but needed the gear below it, which is what started me sending them pics).
I call up and say "I need to order a microscope part, but I don't know the number." This gets me transferred to Anthony in Technical Support, who I then tell "Hi, this is Chris. I need a part but I don't know the number." He gets the model number of the scope and then asks "OK, can you tell me where it is?" Me "No, but if you've got a web browser, I've got pictures." Then I give him a link (something like http://tinyurl.com/f9d64 ), which they think is a great idea because they don't have to figure out what part I'm really talking about.
