Friday night, something strange appeared above the village of Doon Douglas:

No one was sure what it was, but someone got off a lucky shot with the trebuchet:

This caused the object to crash into the town, resulting in a huge explosion:

No one from the town was injured, although one of the river islands did become engulfed in flames. The only survivor of the crashed object was found the next morning:

It took a bit of doing, but I figured out how to do fireworks photography with [livejournal.com profile] teeka's little camera (a Fuji FinePix A360). The photos above, as well as the rest of this weekend's pictures will be here as soon as I get them crunched down into a flash album. The pictures are all taken using the Night Shot scene mode, and the first picture above was done by rotating the camera during the exposure.

There actually was a fire on one of the river islands, but I don't know how large or which island. I did hear that it caused the arrival of three pumper trucks, one rescue squad, and a brush fire truck.

We had a good weekend, although it was hot (85F Sat, 83F Sun), but the rain that had been predicted for Sunday held off until we were driving home. I sold the same chainmail bracelet three times on Saturday (basically, as soon as I got one of that particular design put together, somebody bought it), and we sold loose beads (all the ones that Teeka hasn't gotten around to putting into sets) for $0.60-$1.00/gram, and they went over really well.
