I spent most of the morning making samples for class for next week.

They're doing an experiment on superplasticity and are using tensile specimens made the eutectic lead-tin alloy I just ordered the tin for. I melted all the stock down yesterday and cast ingots.

Today's plan was to roll the stock down to about 1/16" (any thicker and it doesn't fit in the punch press), but it into 3/4" x 6" strips on the big shear press over in the shop, and then punch samples.

I wore shorts today, which means I can't work in the shop. Fortunately, the metal is soft enough that it can be cut with a paper cutter, although it needs a bit of flattening afterwards.
