I have everything set up for the course I was working on - all of the homework sets, custom grade scale, and custom-weighted final grade calculation. The prof who's going to be using it has a class on Monday to learn the basics of how the whole system works.

Today I replaced the power supply in my home computer. My computer wouldn't turn itself off unless you unplugged it, so I figured the power supply is the simplest thing to check. The Antec TruePower True430 gets high marks from me. Not only is it a lot quieter, but I'm starting to think that the old power supply (that the guy who used to be our computer guy put in) wasn't big enough. The old one was a 400W (245W max combined load) unit that I've also discovered was 90+% of the airplane-hanger-like amount of fan noise. The new True430 is a 430W (410W max combined) with a lot more connectors. I took out two of the y-splitters, and now also get a 12V option connector, two SATA power connectors and an external power point.

The computer now boots noticeably faster, so I have to wonder if the old PSU couldn't supply enough power to spin everything (the floppy, Zip250, SCSI CD, IDE DVD+/-RW, 2 HDs, 3 chassis fans, two pIII-500 Xeons, and 6CPU fans) up on startup and took a little while before it all got going to where things could boot.

Now I just have to get the cat to give me back all the leftovers (she's trying to hatch the y-cables).
