This means something!

I got tired of the quality I was getting from my ink jet when doing photos, so I decided it was time to clean it.

I opened the lid and then pulled the plug (that way you can pull the cartridges for cleaning without the printer knowing the carts have been removed, and the estimated ink levels stay reasonably accurate). The color cart was a little dirty and had a cat hair across the nozzles. The black cart was starting to cake up. I cleaned both off and then looked in the drainage well (where the cart dumps ink during the cleaning part of the print cycle).

The black cartridge was making the Devil's Tower! I couldn't focus close enough to get a picture, and the monolith came out in pieces, so you'll just have to use your imagination.

They do make a terrible mess, don't they? It's good to have a thingy of ink solvent for cleaningings.

It's an old HP - all I need is water and a pile of q-tips. If I upgrade to a new printer eventually, then I'll need solvents, as most of Epson's inks and the entire HP Vivera line are non-water-soluble.
