[livejournal.com profile] teeka and I are in North Carolina. It's only a 17 hour drive from Madison, including the snowstorm Thursday night (we packed up the truck, took a nap, and got up to leave about midnight, only to discover it was snowing; we left anyway).

We're here on a beer run - Andrea needed Leineys.

Anybody need anything from NC when we come back?

I dunno....what kind of local yummies and drinkies are there?

BTW hope you are enjoying your trip now. I hope it's not snowing down there.

Real country ham? Something involving umm Sorgum? Beats me. Doesn't NC exist solely to keep the packing right in the Atlantic states?

Andrea says it was supposed to snow, but she had them make it rain instead.

The only real snow was Madison to Chicago, and Teeka says that Chicago at 4am is great - she went through at 65. We also managed to miss out on snow through the mountains in WV & VA.

As to food, we've got 17 kinds of cornmeal, 5 kinds of lard, and Quaker Instant Grits (or the real,slow-cooked kind).

Teeka says "Real country ham? Yeah, we got to get us some."

Oh, and if you have a quick source for a Y keytop for an HP Pavilion, I could use one of those, too (the cat took Andrea's).

The real, slow-cooked kind would be cool.

Good thing about no snow in the Mtns. The roads in WV are winding and treacherous. Almost hit a deer there on the way to S. Carolina.

I'd like to try real salt cured country ham. The Frug raves about it in one of his books.

You were here in NC and didn't say hello? Where were you?

Well, aside from the fact that I had forgotten you were in NC, the rest of the trip plan didn't really have room for visiting other people (there's sort or a 'secret mission' backstory I'm not yet allowed to explain). We're in Charlotte, but we're leaving for home early tomorrow.
