At work, we have two student organizations (AFS and ASM - student chapters of the American Foundryman's Society and of the American Society for Metals, Materials, and one other 'M' I never remember).

Generally, in any given year, one of them is active and the other leaches free food at the joint meetings.

Rachel (the new AFS president) has been getting things sorted out because last year's administration all graduated and left. Last week we went over to the computer center and changed the passwords on everything (not for security, we needed access because nobody from last year told this year's gang what the old passwords were). Today she came to me to get a key to their office. I gave her one, and she and one of the other officers went down to see what was what in the office.

Rachel came back half an hour later asking for trash bags, gloves, cleaner, and paper towels. Last year's gang never cleaned up after the spring picnic. In May. Two bags of moldy buns, old cheese, open condiments, flat soda, and other junk later, they were down to washing all the dishes from the picnic.

I told her to email last year's gang because if she called them or talked to them in person she'd probably kill them.

They also found 5 of the crystal structure model kits I'd been looking for (I bought 20 of them 10 years ago and recently realized that I only knew where 13 of them were). I spent most of the afternoon sorting parts and bringing them back up to spec inventory, using one of the kits as a spare parts donor. When I'm done, I'll order enough replacement parts to fill up everything and have some spares left over (they're sold by the Chemistry Department on campus so that shouldn't be hard).
