a blizzard warning remains in effect from 6 pm this evening to 12 pm cst sunday.

another round of snow is expected to spread into the area this afternoon. some sleet may be mixed in with the snow at times. the snow will be occasionally heavy tonight. additional snowfall expected tonight through monday of 7 to 14 inches is expected.

in addition...strong east winds will gust to 40 mph at times resulting in blizzard conditions with visibilities reduced to less than one quarter mile at times. the strongest winds are expected tonight into sunday morning.

a blizzard warning is issued when sustained winds or frequent gusts of 35 mph or more will combine with falling and/or blowing snow to result in near whiteout conditions with visibilities
around 1/4 mile or less for 3 hours or more.

this will be a very dangerous situation. if you leave the safety of indoors...you are putting your life at risk. travel is not recommended tonight and sunday.*

Blah blah blah, death will strike you down, terror eeek scary!

Man, I hate this new weather regime of nothing but doom and gloom. It's gonna breed a generation of kids who never got to go for a walk by Lake Michigan in a blizzard, or who sat out and watched the lightning, or who danced in the rain...

see, even though i need to be careful about how much time i spend out in the cold (stupid circulation issues,) if we DO get all this snow they're talking about, my first inclination is to call in to work "snowed in" and then go make and old skool fort in my back yard.

do you think it'll be wet and packy enough, or will the wind just blow it all about?

It's 31F now, and MyCast says 34F overnight, with a possibility of rain/snow mix. Depends on how much rain is in the mix as to how hard it packs.

This morning, the snow blower was doing a good job of generating packed snow.
