Staff Awards revisited
Mar. 5th, 2004 12:04 pmI had a meeting today with the prof who wants to nominate me for the award. He thinks I have a strong case, gave me a few suggestions for reformatting the stuff I've already done, and then asked me to write my own nomination letter.
Now, don't get me wrong, I really appreciate that he's going to the effort to put the whole thing together, but he seems to be spending most of his time on finding people to write letters for me, even though they aren't required for the award.
He also says it would be good if I had performance review data to put in the package, but that leads to a whole other rant, since I keep submitting my review every year (and yes, I also write my own review, and I increase the page count on that package every year - this year, it was ~100 pages), and I've never received any feedback. Ever. I get a raise every year when there's money (frequently a larger raise than average, which is a good sign), and I'm in line for a promotion as soon as there's money, but I've never received any feedback on my performance. Personally, I prefer to believe that that means they're all happy with what I do, but at times like this, it'd be nice if somebody put something in writing.
