I took about 180 pictures yesterday. Unfortunately, around pic 78, the colors started to shift and wash out.

One end of the lab I'm clearing out.

The other end of the lab. Identical hood and cabinets, but pictures are suddenly much redder.

I've got an email in to Nikon to see if it's something I set wrong, but I think it's time to get the camera fixed.

I would say that yes, unless the white balance got set somehow, that it's b0rken. There's a "reset to factory defaults" option somewhere in the menus, and you should also look to your white balance. You should re-resize those and have your tool store the EXIF (or IPTC or whatever) info with the new piccie, and then repost them. Many things can be known from that info.

Those pics were taken with the camera in 'full auto' which includes auto white balance. I tried some of the white balance presets and setting a white balance manually (that came out the worst). The pics I posted were downloads from Nikon's support page, where I had uploaded the unmodified originals with all the shooting data intact. I resized them in irfanview, but haven't gotten around to looking at how to tell it to keep the EXIF data intact.

An original of one of them (if you want to look) is at http://www.cae.wisc.edu/~bigchris/pics/lj/dscn0081large.jpg
