Plumbing

[livejournal.com profile] teeka just called. The compression fitting I put in to tie the new kitchen plumbing into the rest of the house is leaking.

She and her dad looked at it, and there is a split in the body of the fitting, so they are going to buy a new one and replace the fitting body.

Fortunately it happened while someone was around, and should be an easy fix (it doesn't seem to have affected the compression ferrules on the pipes, so it should be a matter of installing a new body, rather than cutting the old ferrules off, extending the pipe to make it fit again, and then re-swaging a new fitting into place).

Well, the water seems to be fixed. The old fitting cracked through the threads on the 1/2" side. Possibly due to me using the gorilla grip on it.

[livejournal.com profile] teeka and her parents unpacked a lot of boxes, I unpacked a couple when I got home. We put lighting track up in the basement to put some extra light onto some of the library shelving, and then found all of the lights that went with it.

Most of my evening was spent organizing the garage (thanks [livejournal.com profile] jeffreyp for picking up the workbench that came with the garage). You can move around in it now, Teeka can get her trailer out (and would be vending tomorrow if it wasn't supposed to rain), and there's enough room to start laying out the walls. I still need to clear off the big work bench, but parts of it may have to wait until the walls go in so that I can put up some more shelves for all of the rocks and other craft/business stuff.

In other news, the college forgot to tell us that they hired a new Director-type to manage several of the research centers and that they were going to put him in the spare "boss" office we have (from when the downstairs center had its own director). They remembered on Monday to tell us that he starts 8/21. I spent a lot of today moving stuff out of the office, and am not really sure what to do with all of the stuff in that room that's prepped for when ABET comes through for our accreditation review in September.
