[livejournal.com profile] teeka just called. The compression fitting I put in to tie the new kitchen plumbing into the rest of the house is leaking.

She and her dad looked at it, and there is a split in the body of the fitting, so they are going to buy a new one and replace the fitting body.

Fortunately it happened while someone was around, and should be an easy fix (it doesn't seem to have affected the compression ferrules on the pipes, so it should be a matter of installing a new body, rather than cutting the old ferrules off, extending the pipe to make it fit again, and then re-swaging a new fitting into place).

I'll need to go back and do some more work on it - that branch has a globe valve for a shut off. I can't turn the knob (and figured that if I used a big wrench, the packing would probably start to leak), so we had to shut off the whole house while we cut in the kitchen (which has globe valves on the two old runs and a ball valve on the new one).
