| It's been a busy chainmail week. | |
 |
teeka saw a chainmail flail that she liked, so I made her one for her birthday. It's a "Cat o' 12 tails" because that looked better than the traditional 9. The whole thing is 3/32" aluminum welding rod wound into 5/16", 3/8", and 7/16" rings (and 24 1/8"-dia 7/16" ID rings), is about 24" long, and weights 28 ounces. The ends of each tail currently are weighted with the big rings and a rosette of the larger 3/32" rings |
| Then, I made up some belts. They're made from the big 1/8"x7/16" rings and the 3/32"x5/16" rings, and while they look different, they're both made by almost exactly the same technique. Currently I'm making them about 40-42" long, and custom bending a stianless steel hook for each. The top belt uses a single hook and the bottom one uses a double hook. Here's a closeup with the ruler to give a better feel for the sizes. | |
