$140 take-out pizza
Mar. 20th, 2005 12:43 pmLast night,
teeka and I decided to go out for pizza (she wanted a thin-crust pizza, and nobody delivers to our house). We decided to go to Glass Nickel for their Fetalicious pizza, and went to the Fitchburg/Muir Field location because it seemed closer.
We got there and decided that since their dining area was two tables in a corner, we'd take it home. Get back in the truck, turn the key to start it, and nothing happens. No starter, no starter relay, no radio, no warning lights, just a quiet beeping. This, of course, is not a good sign . Decide to sit and eat some pizza, then try it again. Still nothing.
Call a tow truck, figuring that everyone one we know is a long way from where we are, and if we get a tow truck, and he can't jump start us, we then have a tow truck to take us and the truck home. The next question, of course, is what's the phone number for a tow truck? Fortunately, I remember the Schmidt's #TOW ad, and we call them up, and they send somebody out. The tow truck guy jumps the truck, we pay him $43 (and make a mental note to check and see if my car insurance covers towing), and go home.
This morning, I go out about 9:30, hook up the battery charger, let it sit for half an hour, switch it into start (55-amp) mode, and the truck won't start. Grumble, try it again a couple times. Call Teeka to let her know it's not going well, and then unload enough of the truck to let me get the jumper cables out of the back. Conveniently, I have a fully charged 650CCA battery in my garage for running the lights in Teeka's booth. It won't fit in the truck as a replacement (too tall), but it will let me jump start the truck so I can go to the battery store and get a new 850CCA battery (bigger than the original 650CCA one, but only $10 more).
