Jul. 26th, 2005 01:17 pmOh, the internet is a wonderful thing. Most of the time.
We do a lot of materials testing in our classes (in part because the students need to learn things about it, and in part because breaking things is fun). We used to do a lot less, because samples are expensive to make when you have to have your machinist hand-make 10 of something at a time. Then we found Laboratory Devices Company, which is a semi-retired guy and his wife who raise llamas and have a CNC machine shop in one of the barns. Buying from them, those 10 samples cost $30-40, instead of the $300-500 from our machine shop.
I went to their site today to get current pricing, and it comes up blank. No content, no errors, just blank pages. I looked up their email and sent my request there, and the email bounced. After a bit of digging, I found their phone number and called them. They just changed servers and nothing is working right. They hope to have it fixed soon.
