There are times when I wish my boss had a clue.

He's known for several months that he needs to find $30k for a remodelling project. Today, when we need to write the requisition, he realizes that no one's told him what to decide, and asks us if we know where there's money to use for it.

We've all been hoping that he and our administrator had worked something out before she retired, knowing full well that if they had, the boss probably wasn't paying attention. We know where there's money, but we don't want to be the ones to suggest it, as its earmarked for other stuff. He finally picked a funding source, we got the req done, and he signed it. One of these days all the money he's promised to people is going to come due, and people'll find out just what "tight budget" really means.

Until then, we're carefully cutting corners where we can and making sure he signs everything that has to do with money. And emailing him to tell him what he decided in any verbal meeting we have with him. CYA on everything.
