I just heard from my boss that my promotion has finally been approved (the College has been saying that it will be, but now it finally is).
I go from Associate Instrumentation Technologist to Instrumentation Technologist (no prefix), as of October 1, 2005.
I've been at my current title for 13 years, and have been working on a promotion for the last two (the previous chair wouldn't go for it because there was no money in the budget for it; the current chair knows there's never any money in the budget for it, so she did it anyway). There's a mandatory raise that goes with it. Last I checked the University mandated a minimum 5%, but until the complete confirmation comes through we don't know what it's going to be.
I had been figuring it'd go through, but I wasn't expecting to hear anything until Friday, as that's when the faculty are taking the staff out for lunch for Engineer's Day because this year they couldn't agree on anyone from industry to be our citationer. Instead, as my boss says, "I polled the department faculty, and the response was unanimous: we should invite some REALLY important people to lunch instead - the three of you!"
