Apparently, I'm just ordering-impaired.

A few weeks ago I ordered a replacement microscope gear for work by describing what it looked like and where it went in the 'scope to the tech guy over the phone. They came in today, but it's not the right gear. I need the gear that goes between the pinion gear and the rack gear, but I got the pinion gear. Before I called them about it I took pictures of the inside of the microscope and put them online. Then I could say "look at http://tinyurl.com/xxxxx," and they could go figure out the part number and call me back to tell me they're half the price of the one I received, and then gave me an RMA for the wrong gears.

Then I got home tonight and the replacement parts for my multitool (a SOG Powerlock B60) had come in (I dropped it the other day and snapped off the file, and also ordered a new can opener because I'd broken the small screwdriver off the old one). When I opened it, I had a bottle opener and a file, but no can opener. I called them up, they said "keep the bottle opener, and we'll send you a can opener." Conveniently, they even sent along a pair of wrenches for taking it apart with. I like the multitool - I looked, and I've had it for 5 years, and it's still going strong, although the file really did need replacing - it was starting to go dull from use.

And, I just got email that says that the parts I've been waiting for for the poster printer at work have been shipped. Hopefully they're the parts I'm waiting for.
