Bad Consultant! No lunch for You!

Three professors from the building next door asked me to meet them at the Union a little after noon today to talk with them and a sales guy about a piece of equipment they want to get, the implication being I'll get lunch out of it as payment for helping them out.

Apparently, I've become an expert on remodeling as they're not even in my department.

I get to the union, and find two of the three, and they apologize for forgetting to let me know the sales guy is sick and won't be meeting us today. They then start talking about what they want to do as we all drift over to the cafeteria.

I probably still would have gotten lunch out of it if the line had been shorter. As it was, I told them that they had a few problems before we ordered: 1) the piece of equipment doesn't fit in the freight elevator, so they'd need to open the building and crane it into their 8th floor lab; 2) the utilities they'd need will run ~$200k, and take at least 3-5 years for approval, because it'll have to go through the Legislature due to the size of the project.

I'll be all ears this weekend as you tell me what kind of gear this was supposed to be. Anti-orbital death ray? Time dilation interferometer? Transmat portal?
